Children, and persons who are unable to make their own legal decisions by reason of some mental or other disability, need to have some responsible person to act on their behalf. That person, known as a Next Friend, has very significant responsibilities for the conduct of a claim.
Also, the rules relating to the period within which a claim may be made are different.
